Donation Drives
Volunteers can host a donation drive for items such as food, blankets, towels or personal care items. Or, collect items and assemble personal care kits, children’s care packages or welcome home baskets (see below). We would be happy to provide more information to anyone interested in this type of project.
Gift card/certificate drive
Americans are sitting on about $30 Billion in unused gift cards, and we are happy to accept any cards that people might not otherwise use! For example, we could use gift cards to grocery or retail stores for folks moving into housing or to purchase much needed/necessary items; we could use entertainment cards as motivation for folks in case management (movies, bowling, etc); we could use other cards (massage, restaurants, etc) for volunteer/employee appreciation gifts. The list goes on!
Bus Passes
We are always in need of daily, weekly, and monthly bus passes, particularly for folks who are elderly or who have a disability. To help us buy these items, students could hold a fundraiser:
- Hot Chocolate Stand
- Lemonade Stand
- Craft or Used Book Sale
Make Personal Care Kits
Items might include:
- Travel size toiletries (shampoo, toothpaste, bath soap, deodorant)
- Toothbrushes & toothbrush cases
- Disposable razors & shaving cream
- Wet wipes
- Nail clippers
- Chap stick
- Sunscreen
- Hairbrush & Comb
Make Children Care Packages
These would be given to families with children of all ages:
- Books
- Coloring books
- Crayons
- Stuffed animal or small toy
- Juice box
- Animal crackers
Make Welcome Home Baskets
For folks moving into housing, especially with a homemade card:
- Toilet paper, shower curtain, shower hooks
- Toiletries
- Cups, plates, utensils
- Easy recipe books
- Books and movies
- Coupons
